Bovines smuggling bids foiled: 91 cattle rescued, 10 arrested

JAMMU, May 10: Police foiled bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 91 cattle and arresting ten persons.
As per police sources, 59 bovine animals were rescued while three smugglers were arrested by Nagrota police from Ban Toll Plaza and Sidhra.
The accused have been identified as Shabir Ahmed, son of Khan Mohammad, resident of Talibari Chenani, Abdul Qayoom, son of Mohammad Sadiq, resident of Kathral Reasi and Biniya Bean, son of Ghulam Mohammad, resident of Chadi, Reasi.
Three trucks bearing registration numbers JK02AA-0311, JK02AG-6481 and JK02AH-1255, being used by smugglers for transporting bovines were also seized by the police.
Two case under FIR Numbers 103/16 and 104/16 under Sections 188 and 3/5 PCA Act have been registered at Nagrota police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SDPO Nagrota Bharat Bhushan Sharma and assisted by SHO Nagrota Inspector Karan Chalotra and Incharge Sidhra police post SI Noor Mohammad made the arrest under the supervision of SP Rural Arun Gupta.
Meanwhile, a without number Mahindra load carrier was stopped by Jhajjar Kolti police at Suketar Domail.
During checking, police rescued 5 bovine animals and arrested three persons, who have been identified as Farooq Ahmed, son of Mohammad Ismail, Mustaq Ahmed, son of Mohammad Shafi and Hamid Khan, son of Abdul Gani, all resident of Katyal RS Pura.
A case under FIR number 55/16 under Sections 188 and 3/5 PCA Act has been registered at police station Jhajjar Kotli and investigation taken up.
Police team led by SHO Jhajjar Kotli Inspector Ravinder Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Bharat Bhushan Sharma and SP Rural Arun Gupta.
In another incident, Satwari police laid a special naka at Dharap and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02U-1055.
Police rescued 18 bovine animals from the vehicle and arrested three smugglers, who have been identified as Altaf Ahmed, son of Kalu, resident of Ramban, Mushtaq Ahmed, son of Javed Ahmed, resident of Anantnag and Altaf Ahmed, son of Bashir Ahmed, resident of Udhampur. The truck has been seized by the police.
A case under FIR number 76/2016 under Section 188 RPC stands registered at police station Satwari and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Satwari Inspector Manjeet Singh along with Incharge police post Gadigarh SI Jaswinder Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Sachin Gupta and SP South Shaazad Salaria.
Similarly, Tikri police foiled an attempt of bovine smuggling and rescued nine animals which were being smuggled in a truck to Kashmir.
The truck, bearing registration number JK03P-4887, was intercepted on the National Highway near Tikri. Police rescued the bovine animals and arrested the truck driver, identified as Arif Hussain of village Danova, Poni.
Police seized the truck and registered a case in this connection.
