JAMMU, Feb 14: Nehru Market, Digiana, Phallain Mandal and Belicharana Police foiled bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 74 cattle and arresting 16 smugglers.
As per police sources, during checking, a team from Police Post Nehru Market led by Inspector Sumeet Sharma intercepted two trucks bearing registration number JK08A-8858 and JK04E-9683.
During checking, police team rescued 23 bovine animals were rescued and 5 persons were arrested, who were identified as Amjad Ahmed, son of Farooq Ahmed of District Anantnag, Choudhary Mushtaq, son of Mohammad Din of Maitra District Ramban, Tanveer Ahmed, son of Mohammad Rafiq of Banihal, Naseer Ahmed, son of Bashir Ahmed of Animal and Zahoor Ahmed, son of Bashir Ahmed of Animal.
Cases under FIR Numbers 44/2021 and 45/2021 under Sections 188 IPC and 3 PCA Act have been registered at Police Station Gandhi Nagar and investigation started.
Meanwhile, a team led by Incharge Police Post Digiana Inspector Sandeep Kumar laid a naka and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK03B-9315 and a Tata Mobile bearing registration number JK02CK-0452.
Seventeen bovine animals were rescued from the vehicles and five persons were arrested, who were identified as Shoket Ali, son of Mohammad Hanief and Parvez Ahmed, son of Idris Ahmed, both residents of District Anantnag, Mohammad Sadiq, son of Abdul Rashid of Babliana Satwari District Jammu, Irshad Ahmed, son of Kalu Gujjar of Chambial District Ramban and Mohammad Fareed, son of Karam Din of Babliana District Jammu.
Cases under FIR Numbers 42/2021 and 43/2021 under Sections 188 IPC and 3 PCA Act have been registered at Police Station Gandhi Nagar and investigation started.
In one more similar case, a team from Police Post Phalain Mandal led by SI Anil Sharma during checking intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02AA-5191.
During checking, police team rescued 10 bovine animals from the vehicle and arrested two persons, who were identified as Mohammad Sadiq, son of Mohammad Bashir of Talwara District Reasi and Fateh Mohammad, son of Shattu of Gadigarh District Jammu.
A case under FIR Number 40/2021 under Sections 188 IPC and 3 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Satwari and investigation started.
However, a team from Police Post Belicharana stopped two trucks bearing registration numbers JK02AH-1255 and JK02AF-7029.
During checking, police team rescued 24 bovine animals and arrested four persons, who were identified as Parvez Ahmed, son of Nazir Ahmed of District Anantnag, Mohammad Hanief, son of Mohammad Yousuf of Raipur Jageer, Marh District Jammu, Abdul Qayoom, son of Mohammad Sadiq of District Reasi and Rohit Ahmed, son of Mohammad Saleem of District Anantnag.
A case under FIR Number 41/2021 under Sections 188 IPC and 3 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Satwari and investigation initiated.
