Bovines smuggling bids foiled; 60 cattle rescued, 6 smugglers arrested

JAMMU, Jan 30: Nagrota police foiled bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 60 cattle and arresting 6 smugglers.
As per police sources, on specific information, a joint team from Nagrota Police Station and Sidhra Police Post laid nakas near Ban Toll Plaza and Sidhra Bridge and intercepted six vehicles bearing registration numbers JK02AK-5571, JK02AG-8031, JK02AK-6741, UP21CN-2819, JK14D-1686 and JK02CJ-8284.
During checking, police team rescued 60 bovine animals from the vehicles and arrested six smugglers, who were identified as Mohammad Rafiq, son of Gulam Mohammad of Tanghar Sangaldan District Ramban, Showket Ali, son of Mohammad Iqbal of Hanjana District Doda, Aqib Gulzar, son of Khusi Mohammad of Pull Doda, Raj Ali, son of Manzoor Ahmed of Lower Raghoora Sidhra District Jammu, Jan Alam, son of Mohammad Arif of Muradabad Uttar Pradesh and Imran Ahmed, son of Mohammad Hanief of Chingloo Bakarwal Chak Qazigund District Anantnag.
Cases under FIR Numbers 39/2020, 40/2020, 41/2020, 42/2020, 43/2020 and 44/2020 under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Nagrota and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Nagrota Mohammad Shoket and assisted by Incharge Police Post Sidhra SI Zaheer Mushtaq made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Mohan Lal Sharma.
