Bovines smuggling bids foiled; 25 cattle rescued, 3 smugglers arrested

RAMBAN, Feb 23: Batote and Nagrota Police foiled bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 25 cattle and arresting three smugglers.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Batote Police Station intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02AP-2481.
During checking, police team rescued 18 bovines from the truck and arrested the driver, who has been identified as Chander Pal Singh alias Bittu, son of Bhagat Singh of Batote.
The arrest was made under the supervision of Additional SP Ramban Sanjay Parihar and SSP Ramban Haseeb ur Rehman.
Meanwhile, a team from Nagrota Police Station laid a naka near Ban Toll Plaza and intercepted two vehicles bearing registration numbers JK14D-6847 and JK14D-6764.
During checking, police team rescued 7 bovine animals from the vehicles and arrested two smugglers, who were identified as Tariq Shah, son of Peer Wazir Shah of Jakhani District Udhampur and Abdul Haq, son of Saraj Din of Chopra Shop Rehmbal District Udhampur.
Two cases under FIR Numbers 86/2020 and 87/2020 under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Nagrota and investigation started.
Police team headed by SHO Nagrota Inspector Mohammad Shoket made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Mohan Lal Sharma.
