JAMMU, Feb 26: Nagrota Police foiled bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 24 cattle and arresting five smugglers.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Nagrota Police Station laid a naka near Ban Toll Plaza and intercepted four vehicles.
During checking, police team rescued 24 bovine animals from the vehicles and arrested five smugglers.
The arrested persons were identified as Junaid Ali, son of Gulab Din of Gujjar Colony Sunjwan District Jammu, Zaffar Ahmed, son of Nazir Hussain of Mazmoo Qazigund, Gulam Rasool, son of Bashir Ahmed of Chowadhi District Jammu, Abdul Majeed, son of Haji Abdul Gani of Dawara District Jammu and Abdul Kadoos, son of Gulzar Ahmed of Mazmoo Qazigund.
Cases under FIR Numbers 94/2020, 96/202, 97/2020 and 98/2020 under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Nagrota and investigation started.
Police party headed by SHO Nagrota Inspector Mohammad Shoket made the arrests under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Mohan Lal Sharma.
