Bovines smuggling bids foiled; 138 cattle rescued, 13 arrested

JAMMU, Apr 29: Nagrota, Udhampur, Miran Sahib and Sunderbani Police foiled bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 138 cattle and arresting 13 smugglers.
As per police sources, on reliable information, a team from Police Station Nagrota led by SHO Inspector Deepak Pathania laid a naka and intercepted seven trucks bearing registration numbers JK03E-4433, JK02H-0787, JK02D-2566, JK02AL-5917, JK21C-3848, JK02AC-2576 and JK14A-6265.
During checking, 110 bovine animals were rescued from the trucks and five persons were taken into custody.
The arrested persons have been identified as Zahid Ahmed Ganai, son of Abdul Rashid Ganai of Chak Churtha Kulgam, Raes Ahmed, son of Abdul Rahman of Soot Tangpura Kulgam, Shokat Mir, son of Mohammad Zabar of Barbal Rahamir Kulgam, Amzad Ahmed, son of Mohammad Farooq of Sirimarg Mazmun Anantnag and Shokat Ahmed, son of Mohammad Iqbal of Larnoo Anantnag.
Meanwhile, a team from Udhampur Police Station led by SHO Inspector Vijay Singh Choudhary under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Udhampur Dr Rohit Chadgal, Additional SP Udhampur Rajinder Singh Katoch and SSP Udhampur Rajiv Pandey laid a naka at TCP Domail and intercepted three vehicles bearing registration numbers JK02BG-0215, JK02CA-5217 and JK14F-8288.
On thorough checking, police team rescued 21 bovine animals from the vehicles and arrested four persons, who have been identified as Manzoor Ahmed, son of Sher Ali of Gudhar, Udhampur, Kalu, son of Mohammad Yousuf of RS Pura Jammu, Jamat Ali, son of Mussa of Krimchi Udhampur and Mohammad Saleem, son of Noor Ali of Chari Sial.
In another similar incident, a team from Miran Sahib Police Station rescued five bovine animals from a vehicle and arrested two persons. The accused have been identified as Sultan Hussain, son of Mohammad Rafiq of District Udhampur and Jamat Ali, son of Gudu of Marallian, District Jammu.
However, a team from Sunderbani Police Station during checking rescued 2 bovine animals from a Tata Mobile bearing registration number JK11C-6912 and arrested two persons.
The arrested persons have been identified as Mohammad Ashiq of Udhan Village, Darhal and Balbir Singh from Devak.
Cases under relevant sections have been registered at Nagrota, Udhampur, Miran Sahib and Sunderbani Police Stations and investigation started.
