JAMMU, Mar 25: Akhnoor police foiled bovines smuggling bid by rescuing six cattle.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Akhnoor police station laid a naka on Sohal Road and signaled a Mahindra vehicle bearing registration number JKO2BL-1896 to stop, but the driver accelerated the vehicle and escaped from the spot.
Police team chased and intercepted the vehicle near some distance from the naka point.
During checking, police rescued six bovine animals from the vehicle, but the smugglers fled from the spot taking benefit of the darkness.
A case under FIR Number 51/16 under Section 188 RPC and 3 PCA Act has been registered at Akhnoor police station and manhunt has been launched to nab the smugglers.
Police team led by SHO Akhnoor police station Inspector Pushpinder Singh foiled the bovines smuggling bid under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Gurvinder Pal Singh and Additional SP Rural Arun Gupta.
