JAMMU, Dec 26: Nagrota police foiled bovines smuggling bid by rescuing 15 cattle and arresting a truck driver.
As per police sources, based on reliable information, a team from Nagrota police station laid a special naka near Ban Toll Plaza and signaled a truck bearing registration number JK02AD-4653 to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the driver accelerated the vehicle and escaped from the spot. Stinking something fishy, the cops chased the vehicle and intercepted it near some distance from the naka point.
During checking, police rescued 15 bovine animals from the truck and arrested the driver, who has been identified as Basharat Ali, son of Mohammad Ashraf Khan, a resident of District Anantnag.
He was trying to smuggle the bovine animals to Valley, but active cops of Nagrota police station foiled his bid.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Nagrota police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Nagrota Inspector Suhail Rashid foiled the bovines smuggling bid and made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Amit Sharma and SP Rural Arun Gupta.
