Border youth should get 10% quota: Tara Chand

JAMMU, Jan 27: Former Deputy Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Tara Chand has said that border youth should get 10 % reservation in educational institutions and Government jobs.
Addressing party workers’ meeting in Pargwal area of Khour Assembly constituency today, Tara Chand said that people living closer to the International Border and LoC are facing lot of problems. He said while those residing closer to the LoC are being provided quota, those living closer to the IB have been deprived of this benefit despite that fact that they too, are facing similar type of problems.
Launching attack on Modi Government, Tara Chand said that Modi had promised two crore jobs to the youth every year but now five years are almost over and educated youth of the country have been deprived of 10 crore jobs. He said the border youth are facing hardships and are unable to get job. He demanded special recruitment for them. Tara Chand stressed the need to provide 10 per cent reservation in jobs and education institutions to the border youth. He also demanded that border youth who are above the age of 21 yrs, be provided Rs 3000 monthly allowance.
Tara Chand further said that condition of the farmers was also pitiable in the area and said it has further deteriorated under BJP Government. He termed the BJP Government as anti-youth, anti-poor and anti-farmer. He demanded that pending agriculture loans of the farmers be waived off as Centre did in MP and Rajasthan.
The former DyCM also welcomed some new entrants to the party fold and asked the party workers to gear up their activities in view of forth coming elections. He said the party functionaries should project the issues of the public.
