After visiting the Pak shelling affected villages of Balakote, Mendhar, Mankote and Salotri in Poonch today, Mir who was accompanied by senior party leaders, Raman Bhalla, DCC Poonch president Ch Abdul Ghani,  Shabir Khan, Manmohan  Singh, Akram Choudhary, Ashok Sharma and Ch Zaffal Ullah, said that BJP did nothing for the people except generating passions on religious and regional lines. He said the promise of providing five marla plots to dwellers of vulnerable areas and other promises have turned out a big joke with the people.
Mir also criticized the BJP for dividing people, saying their hate politics has caused much damage to the State. He hoped that the people will isolate reactionary forces and strengthen the bonds of amity and brotherhood. He assailed the BJP’s total indifference towards residents of the forward areas and said callousness of its leaders is a classic example of the BJP’s duplicity and deception, which is reflected in alarming measure in the forward areas. He hit out at the BJP saying hypocrisy of its leaders stand exposed, as they were liberal in making promises but raised hands when it came to delivering. He said that the border people were suffering due to lack of policy at the Centre in meeting the challenges on borders. These people have been living miserable life during the past more than four years, with nobody addressing their problems.
PCC chief said that Border district Poonch has four sub divisions which are said to be lagging behind in the development works. He said the bridges to be constructed in sub division over the nallahs have been confined to papers yet a little bit work over these bridges done earlier, was washed away in recent flash floods. The roads constructed by PMGSY or Public Works Department were in dilapidated condition. Old sickpeople and school going children were the most suffers. The overall development in sub division Mendhar, Surankote Mandi and Poonch is lagging behind. He said the health scenario was in worst condition. Though the entire Poonch district is a border area but Mendhar sub division fall near LoC and people living in these areas need 24×7 medical help which at present was not being provided.
Raman Bhalla while accusing previous BJP-PDP coalition Government in Jammu and Kashmir of having failed to address the problems of the people, Bhalla said, “Since BJP-PDP joined hands; the miseries of the people of Jammu and Kashmir have increased manifolds. They failed to fulfill any of the promises, be it the problems faced by the border residents, be it the problems faced by the farmers, be it the problems of refugees and Kashmiri Pandits, this Government has done nothing to address these problems,” Bhalla added.
The team also visited Nowshera LoC villages, where PCC chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma (Ex-MLC) accompanied.
