Successful test firing of two layered ballistic missile defence system is a significant milestone achieved in the direction of intercepting any intruding body approaching at a distance of 2000 km away. This is another feather in the cap of our missile scientists whom the nation shows its respect and gratitude. Called Prithvi Defence Vehicle (PDV) in the terminology of the scientists at Odisha, the missile contains very complicated technology and delicate command system. All of it has been done indigenously by Indian scientists and technocrats.
Our State has often reiterated that India is for peace and peaceful solution of disputes. We don’t believe in violence as the factor that would solve any problem. That is the national policy. But in matters of defence and security, the country is next to none in realizing its importance. We don’t like to be caught napping when we should be wide awake especially on our volatile borders when our neighbours are trying to test our patience and if possible to destabilize our country. No country should take it a challenge if India test fires her more recent defence sustainability device.
Indian space scientists have made their mark in service to development of scientific temper among our youth. But that is not the end of it. Much more has to be done to spread out scientific and technological culture in our nation. Definitely our progress and strength have to be sought in the wraps of science and technology. While doing so, we must salute the eminent space scientists of our country that have brought us laurels. Defence Research Department deserves kudos for pursuing its missile programme successfully.
