JAMMU, June 14: Vice-Chancellor University of Jammu, Prof R D Sharma today released a book on “Lifelong learning and sustainable rural development”.
The book, which is an outcome of a national seminar organized by the Department of Lifelong Learning, JU early this year, provides a pluralist, multi-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary perspective on the theme with a focus on India and its rural hinterland.
The book consists of 31 chapters on various themes including lifelong learning and sustainable human development, issues of inclusion, education of dropouts and special children, adult education, sustainability of rural development, rural livelihoods, community development, rural health etc.
The book also has a set of research papers pertaining to Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) spread over various sub-themes including Panchayati Raj and rural development, decentralization, grass-root democracy etc. Overall, the book is an effort to provide a complete treatise on Lifelong Learning and Sustainable Rural Development.
The book has been edited by Dr Kavita Suri, Director, Department of Lifelong Learning, JU. The book has been published by Shubhi Publications, New Delhi.
