Body of drowned boy recovered

JAMMU, May 29: The dead body of a 17-year-old boy, who was allegedly drowned in River Chenab at Dera Baba, Reasi on May 18, was recovered today from the bank of River Chenab in Pargwal area of Jammu.
Quoting the family members of the deceased, a police officer said that on May 18, Rohit Kumar (17) son of Sanjay Kumar, resident of Mansoo, Dera Baba (Reasi) had gone for taking a dip in River Chenab along with one of his friends who later informed Rohit’s family that he had drowned in the river while taking bath.
The officer said the body of Rohit was spotted today on the bank of River Chenab at village Nar Singh Pura (Pargwal) in Jammu by a fisherman. He said on getting information from the fisherman, a police team reached the spot and shifted the body to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu.
He said after postmortem conducted by a board of doctors, the body was handed over to his family members for last rites while the concerned police had initiated inquest proceeding under 174 CrPC in the case.
