BMS organizes seminar on contractual employment

JAMMU, Jan 7: Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) here today organized a seminar on contractual employment system.
Speaking on the occasion Harbans Choudhary, BMS working president said that highly educated youth are being engaged in Government departments on regular nature of work in the name of scheme, mission etc.
“Thousands of employees work in Medical Department on the name of NHM and PHE and they are being paid very less salary in comparison to regular employees,” he maintained adding: “These employees are being exploited badly and there is no social security to them neither they are covered under EPF or ESI but they are supposed to work for eight hours or even more and even regular employees also put their work on them.”
The BMS leader demanded formulation of a policy for these employees so that they may get at least a minimum salary and when posts are advertised these employees should be given preference in employment. Ashok Choudhary, Sangathan Mantri BMS highlighted the exploitation of industrial workers as in industries those who come from other States openly flout the norms fixed by the government for giving 80 per cent employment to locals.
