Blood donation, health check-up camp held

JAMMU, Jan 30: Aryans Group of Colleges, Rajpura, near Chandigarh and Department of Blood Transfusion, PGI Chandigarh today organized a Blood Donation Camp at its Campus.
A medical check-up camp was also organized by Simrita Nursing Home, Rajpura. Dr. Sarabjit Singh from Simrita Nursing Home was the chief guest on the occasion.
PGI team comprising doctors, nurses and technicians under the guidance of Dr. Gurpreet Thiara, Assistant Blood Transfusion Officer (ABTO) camp with the medical checkup of voluntary donors and selected the eligible donors to donate blood. The students were given certificates and donor cards along with refreshments.
Dr. Raonak Lamba, MD, Skin & Cosmetology; Dr. Om Parkash, Ortho; Dr. Hergun Singh, Medical Officer from Simrita Nursing Home conducted health check up camp. Medical guidance and prescription was given to hundreds including students, parents, local residents of villages etc.
Motivating the rural people, Dr. Sarabjit emphasized on their regular check-up and counselling and also stressed upon the importance of maintaining healthy life style.
Dr. Anshu Kataria said that a person can save 3 lives from 1 unit blood. He added that these camps not only provide blood to the blood banks but also are a great boon to the Thalassemia and Leukemia patients who need blood infusions frequently.
