Srinagar, Jan 30: Scores of 6th Semester students from the commerce stream today protested against the lack of relevant books in the market that would cover their syllabus.
The students are doing Bachelor’s in Commerce in different colleges that are affiliated with the University of Kashmir. The students lamented that their examination are scheduled for next month and they are yet to find a book which would cover their entire syllabus. They assembled at the Press Enclave here and requested the university to make books available in the market.
Jahangir, a student from Bemina Degree College, said that their first paper is scheduled for 5th February but they are yet to find a book which would cover the entire syllabus. “The available books don’t cover the entire syllabus. The subjects like Indian Economy keeps on changing. The growth rate and GDP fluctuates every year. We are unaware about the changes,” he said. He added that the administration is asking them to consult library, but that is time consuming.
Sabreena, another student said that they demanded authorities to prescribe a book for them. “We demand authorities to prescribe a book which would cover our whole syllabus. We do not want any postponement of examination,” she said.
They appealed administration to look into the matter.
