JAMMU, July 6: To observe the birth anniversary of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) here today organized a blood camp in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society at Government College for Women Parade.
State Director NYK, Nisar Ahmed Butt; Honorary Secretary, Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu, Satpal; Associate Professors—Dr. Avinash K. Gupta and Dr. Anuradha Gupta; NSS Program Officers—Parvaiz Ahmed, Dr. Mohd Majeed and Dr. Gurpreet Kaur and Red Cross Society Jammu Region Member, Desraj were amongst dignitaries present on the occasion . Principal GCW Parade, Dr. S.P Saraswat was chief guest on the occasion.
Assistant Prof. Jagmeet Kaur threw light on the life, works and achievements of Dr. Mukherjee and informed the audience about his role during 1943 Bengal Famine by organizing large scale relief works for famine victims.
“Dr. Mukherjee invited leading politicians like Pandit Jwaharlal Nehru, businessmen and philanthropists to devise ways and means to provide relief to the needy and distressed,” she informed.
NYK Jammu volunteers along with students of GCW Parade took part in the blood grouping and sampling procedures.
Around 75 volunteers from NYK Jammu became the part of this camp successfully. NSS Program Officer, Dr. Gurpreet Kaur presented the vote of thanks.
