Blind murder of youth worked out; wife, relative arrested

RAJOURI, Apr 20: The Darhal police has solved a blind murder case of a youth by arresting his wife and brother in-law and registering a case against them.
According to police, SDPO Thannamandi, Surjit Bhagat  received an information on April 9 that a dead body of  Javed Iqbal alias Babu Hussian, son of Kala of Prodi Darhal was lying in Panite which seems to be a murder case. A police team led by SHO Police Station Darhal, Sukhdev Raj under the supervision of SDPO Surjit Bhagat rushed to the spot and shifted the body to District Hospital Rajouri where after conducting the postmortem it was handed over to its relatives for last rites.
Police said on April 11 SDPO constituted a team led by SHO Darhal with ASI Mohammed Shabir as its member to investigate the matter. The police could not take action on April 10 as it was a polling day in Jammu Poonch Parliamentary Constituency and it was busy in maintaining law and order on the day.
However, next day the police team swung into action and arrested some persons of the area for questioning which among others were the relatives of the victim. The brother in-law of victim, 45 year old Abdul Qayoom, son of Mohammed Iqbal of Panite and Zahida Parveen, 28, wife of victim were among those who were arrested by the police for questioning.
On sustained interrogation the duo broke down before the police revealing that Javed  had strained relations with his wife who was putting up with her brother for last two months. The couple also had a three year daughter.
They further revealed that on April 8 the in-laws of Javed called him at their residence to settle the issue through negotiations and when he reached there he was taken to a cattle shed and tortured and beaten to death. His private parts were badly damaged.
The Darhal Police has registered a FIR No 29 of 2014 under Section 302, 109, 201, 34, RPC. Earlier the in-laws and wife of Javed had informed the police that he was insane. But this was proved wrong after investigation.
Police said that more arrests in this connection will be made soon on the information of two accused.
