RAJOURI, Apr 24: The Bharatiya Janata Party’s Youth Wing- Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), under the leadership of District president Azhar Mehmood, organized a peaceful protest rally in Rajouri demanding establishment of a National Law University (NLU) in the Jammu region. A large number of youth and party workers participated in the rally and strongly voiced their demand.
The rally started from the Salani area and passed through various parts of the town. Participants carried placards and banners, urging the Government to set up an NLU in Jammu province. The protesters stated that students from the Jammu region have to move to other states for quality legal education, which causes financial and social hardships.
On the occasion, several leaders including Dev Raj Sharma Distt president BJP Rajouri Mohd Arif Ranja, former chairman Municipal Council Rajouri Samreen Khan, Shikha Bali, Radhish Sharma, Karan Saryal, Manzoor Naik and Rashid Sheikh addressed the gathering.
In their speeches, they emphasized that the establishment of an NLU in Jammu is the need of the hour, as it would provide better educational opportunities to local students and contribute to the overall development of the region.
District president Azhar Mehmood, in his address, said that BJYM is committed to safeguarding the interests of students and will continue to strive at every level to fulfill this demand. He further warned that if concrete steps are not taken soon, the movement will be intensified.
Later, a memorandum was submitted to the Government through the District administration, highlighting the demand for setting up a National Law University in the Jammu region.
