BHADERWAH, Apr 26: Former Union Health Minister and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad today said that BJP’s divisive politics was dangerous for the country and especially the sensitive Jammu and Kashmir State.
Addressing public meetings at Bhalla, Bhaderwah, Thathri and Kahra today, Azad said that BJP is playing divisive politics in the country for its vested interests to generate vote bank. This party has been creating wedge between the Hindus and Muslims, who are living in communal harmony and brotherhood in the country for the centuries.
Azad said Governments would come and go but such politics or exploiting religious sentiments of the people of both the communities for the political gains, will badly damaged the age old traditions of harmony and co-existence of all the communities in this great secular nation. He warned the BJP leadership to desist from issuing loud slogans which damage the social fabric and cause damage to our unique secular identity.
Launching scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, top AICC leader said that alleged that Modi has only shown green pastures to the people of this country. His development is only in announcements and slogans but not actually on the ground. The Modi led Government is just befooling to the people of this nation. He said in J&K also, there is no thing like governance at all. Mehbooba Mufti led regime has totally ruined the State and especially Kashmir valley. There is atmosphere of total uncertainty in the State. The situation is going out of hands and the Government has been acting as mute spectator, Azad maintained.
Referring to the situation in three districts of Chenab region, the former J&K Chief Minister said that people of both the communities in Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban districts have been living in age old traditions of community harmony and brotherhood. It is unfortunate that after Saffron party secured maximum seats in the region for the first time, its representatives have started playing politics of division here also. Chenab region is quite different from Kashmir or any other part of the country. The people of both the communities have very close bonds with each other.
It is unfortunate that BJP MLAs from this belt have been maintained discriminatory attitude towards the people from the other community and also those from Congress or other parties. Even in postings and transfers, the people having some alliance or connection with the other parties are being punished. The contracts of various works are also being allotted on the political considerations, which never happened earlier during NC-Congress or PDP-Cong regime, Azad added.
Training guns at the BJP-PDP regime in the State, Azad alleged that development works started during Cong-NC regime have been stalled in the State. This Govt do not have development agenda and is hell bent to damage the social fabric of our pluralistic society in the State. He said that trouble in Kashmir is the outcome of the division politics of PDP and BJP. The people in Chenab region are suffering for want of ration, medical facilities, adequate water and electricity supply. The road condition is worst in most of the area. Bridge over river Chenab at Doda is awaiting its commissioning since long but VIIPs have no time for the same.
Azad further lashed out at PDP-BJP Govt for blaming people for the present situation in Valley but instead of feeling remorse over the reign of terror and repression, it has been using force on the people in Kashmir. He wondered at the attempts being made by the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and other Cabinet Ministers to “downplay the bloodshed and atrocities” being committed upon the people, saying that killings, blinding and maiming of youth is unparallel in the history of Kashmir.”
“What Kashmiris underwent in 2016 or are facing now, is beyond comprehension and expression”, Azad said adding that “PDP- BJP has pushed Kashmiri youth to the wall.”
He said the “anti-people policies of the PDP-BJP dispensation have brought Kashmir at the volatile crossroads of history where nothing is visible except uncertainty, fear and harassment.”
Azad also visited fire-sufferers of far-off area of Bhalesa, Batyas and Gandoh and announced various relief measures for the rehabilitation and welfare of the victims. He also took stock of the extensive damage caused by the devastating blaze in this remote area. He termed these incidents as clear acts of sabotage, which are needed to be investigated.
