SRINAGAR/JAMMU, May 17: BJP workers held a ‘victory parade’ here today to celebrate the party’s spectacular win in Lok Sabha elections and expressed hope that Narendra Modi would take steps to improve security and development scenario in Jammu and Kashmir.
Dozens of BJP supporters, including women, held a parade from Sher-e-Kashmir Park to Pratap Park in the heart of the city, shouting slogans in support of Modi.
“I am very happy that Modi won. Only he can improve situation in Kashmir and work for the development of the State,” BJP worker Ayesha said.
Another Party worker Bashir Ahmad said Jammu and Kashmir needed special attention from Modi as it lacked on every development index.
“We are hopeful that the new Prime Minister will take path-breaking steps like the ones taken by Atal Bihari Vajpayee during his tenure. A special employment package will help the State come out of its difficulties,” Ahmad said.
The supporters also burst firecrackers inside Pratap Park before dispersing peacefully.
BJP also celebrated Party victory at various places in Jammu region on the second day today.
The landslide victory of the Party was celebrated by lawyers at a function held at District Court Complex here, today under the leadership of Parimoksh Seth, Member National Legal Committee, BJYM and co incharge Himachal Pradesh.
Hundreds of lawyers who assembled in the district court complex distributed sweets among the lawyers and litigants. They also congratulated Narendra Modi for leading NDA to victory by bagging 335 seats. They also congratulated Dr Jitendra Singh, Jugal Kishore Sharma and Thupstan Chhewang who won from Udhampur-Doda, Jammu-Poonch and Ladakh Parliamentary constituencies respectively.
The lawyers especially congratulated Anurag Thakur, national president BJYM for his third consecutive victory from Hamirpur in HP.
The party held a victory procession at Khour today under the leadership of Chaman Lal Kanathia.
The jubilant BJP workers distributed sweets and also danced to the drum beats congratulating and hugging each other. The victory procession started from Party Office at Khour and it passed via main Chowk and main bazaars of the town amidst the beating of drums.
Addressing the victory rally Chaman Lal Kanathia said that the long awaited moment has come when a change in the politics of the nation has taken place with the great efforts of Mr Modi.
He said one Party rule has returned in the country after 1984 and people deserve congratulations for the same. Pt Mela Ram block president, Vinod Bhagat, Ankush Chowdhary, Capt (retd) Chain Singh, Partap Singh, Prem Choudhary, Girdari Lal and others addressed thee rally.
An impressive function was held at Rajouri in connection with BJP’s landslide victory in the Lok Sabha elections. The function was chaired by Party secretary Vibodh Gupta. Addressing the function Mr Gupta said BJP’s impact has increased many fold across the State and it was witnessed on ground as the Party made its maiden victory in Ladakh region and its vote share has also increased across the Kashmir valley.
Gupta also congratulated the voters and workers from Rajouri and Poonch districts who made their sincere efforts towards the victory of BJP on Jammu -Poonch Parliamentary seat.
He said despite the negative campaign launched by NC and Congress, the Muslims voters have shown an overwhelming response towards BJP across the country and in J&K.
VHP senior vice president Prabhudayal Gupta has also congratulated the people of country for giving a decisive mandate to Narendra Modi in the elections to install a strong Government at Centre which can tackle the cross border terrorism with full might and bring the nation on the path of prosperity and development.
Akali Dal Badal leaders delegation today met the two newly elected BJP MPs from Jammu region, Dr Jitendra Singh and Jugal Kishore Sharma and congratulated them for the Party’s landslide victory in Lok Sabha elections.
All India Kashmiri Samaj (AIKS) president Moti Kaul has also congratulated the countrymen for giving a massive mandate to Mr Modi to head a strong Government at Centre. Addressing the AIKS workers meeting he expressed the hope that under the leadership of Mr Modi India will again emerge as Vishaw Guru.
All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference, (ASKPC) in a meeting here today under the chairmanship of H L Chatta to celebrate the BJP’s landslide victory in Lok Sabha elections congratulated Mr Modi and the BJP candidates from the State including Dr Jitendra Singh, Jugal Kishore Sharma and Thupstan Chhewang. Those who addressed the meeting included R K Raina senior vice president ASKPC, S K Bhat, B L Handoo, and Subash Chatta.
BJP leader from Bhadarwah Manjit Razdhan also congratulated the people of the State in general and that of Kathua -Doda Constituency in particular for the landslide victory of Party in the elections.
A grand function was organized by BJP Muslim Morcha Bhadarwah to celebrate the Party’s landslide victory in the elections. The function was organized by Morcha block president, Yasir Shapoo. The jubilant workers said the people were freed from the gunda Raj of Congress.
The workers of Morcha also held a function at Seri Bazar and distributed sweets and burst crackers.
