GANDOH (DODA), Apr 9:  Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate for Udhampur-Kathua-Doda Lok Sabha constituency, Dr Jitendra Singh said, BJP is the only political party in the country which is truly secular because it not only gives equal respect to all religions but also practices this virtue in its policies and programmes through the principle of “justice to all, appeasement to none”.
Addressing a huge public rally here today, Dr Jitendra Singh said, unlike the Congress Party, BJP does not wear ‘secularism’ on its sleeves and flaunt it for political opportunism. While the BJP is often, though wrongly, blamed by its detractors for Gujarat riots, the facts bear out that most of the communal riots since independence have taken place when the Congress Party was in power at the Center, he added.
Citing the past evidence, Dr Jitendra Singh accused the Congress Party of resorting to tactics of Hindu-Muslim divide or Hindu-Sikh divide for vote bank politics while in J&K, it colluded with Kashmir-centric regional parties to create polarization through appeasement of separatists.
He said Kishtwar is the most recent example of the dangerous communal agenda followed by these pseudo-secular parties, he added.
If voted to power, Dr Jitendra Singh said, BJP will strive to liberate the region from continued neglect suffered by it.
Rising above all other considerations, he appealed to the people to vote for a corruption-free regime to get rid of the scams and misgovernance, which have been the hallmark of Congress led UPA at Center and Congress-National Conference coalition in the State.
Among others to address the rally were BJP State vice president Somnath Khajuria, State secy Ghulam Ali Khatana, Distt President Dilip Singh Parihar, Senior leader Kaushal Kotwal, Mandal president Jaswant Singh, Ch Shoukat Ali, Jallal-ud-din, Distt general secretary Mela Ram and several others.
