KISHTWAR, June 11: An emergency meeting was held by Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) workers at Kishtwar in which the party showed its anguish and resentment over the arrest of Police Sub Inspector, Shiv Kumar alias Sonu by the Police.
Terming it a deep rooted conspiracy, the BJP leaders said the same has been hatched by a local NC Minister and Police Department to divide the region on communal basis and terrorize the nationalist forces.
Addressing the meeting, Sunil Sharma National Executive Member BJP Youth Wing, said that what Pakistan sponsored terrorists and the local separatist regime failed to do all these decades, the ruling Ministers and their puppet police officers have done that.
The nationalist forces, honest officers and patriotic elements are constantly being intimidated, harassed and implicated in false cases, he added.
Sharma apprised the members that the local Minister has specially given this task to some senior police officers who at his behest are terrorizing the nationalist forces and creating a communal divide in the twin districts viz Doda and Kishtwar.
He accused the Minister and police of creating a communal divide in the area and asked why a shop belonging to the minority community was burnt at Shiva Doda and at whose behest the police arrested and tortured minority community people in Marmat Doda, when they were resisting the killing of bovine animals there, Sharma asked?.
He said the Minister and some officers have crossed all the limits and the people who had played a vital role in clearing the Doda region of militancy, feel demoralized today.
He said to express its resentment against the arrest of Sonu BJP will protest tomorrow and also intensify agitation in future days by giving bandh call also in case the Government does not stop the harassment of members of minority community.
