RAMNAGAR, Mar 15: Chairman of JKNPP and former minister, Harsh Dev Singh alleged that the BJP regime has humiliated Dogras by demoting J&K State to Union Territory.
“With J&K having been divested of its statehood status, the trade, tourism and economy of the erstwhile princely Dogra State of the country has been adversely impacted. While the economy fast dissipated and development came to a grinding halt, the ever growing unemployment seemed to be the only notable feature of the saffron rule,” he said while addressing a workers meeting at Ramnagar.
Harsh Dev said that the extension of several draconian laws after abrogation of Article 370, including opening of lands and jobs to outsiders had in particular, come as a rude shocker for the people of J&K. “The Dogras felt humiliated as the BJP failed to even announce holiday on the birthday of Maharaja Hari Singh, the legendary ruler of J&K. The unemployed youth of Jammu region have been the most disappointed lot with their share in services have been abysmally reduced. The Daily Wagers, the Contractuals, the underemployed have all felt cheated in BJP regime,” he said.
Alleging that a deep rooted culture of corruption was prevalent in Ramnagar, Singh called upon the Vigilante Organizations to keep a close watch over the functioning of various Deptts particularly PHE, Revenue and RDD. He sought a high level probe into the death of a youth in Basantgarh area recently allegedly due to consumption of spurious drugs. He reminisced the ghastly tragedy in the past in Ramnagar wherein 12 children lost their lives due to the menace of spurious drugs. And only last month a child of village Bari was taken seriously ill after having consumed expired medicines. He regretted acute water supply problems in various villages of Ramnagar despite crores having been shown to have been incurred on the WSS schemes. He regretted that there were no takers for the sufferings of the people with corrupt officers enjoying full patronage of the political bosses.
