BJP pursuing discriminatory agenda towards downtrodden: SC/ST Confederation

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Apr 25: J&K Unit of All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organizations today slammed the BJP, coalition partner in present dispensation, for pursuing discriminatory agenda towards SC/ST/OBC people.
Addressing a press conference, Confederation president, RK Kalsotra, said that the people of Jammu elected incumbent coalition partner to work for the people of Jammu but to their utter dismay, the BJP has let down the entire populace and brought people, particularly belonging to the reserved categories, from Jammu province to their knees.
Delving further, Kalsotra, said in spite of innumerable memoranda and representations submitted to the CM as well as the Chief Secretary who publicly promised to further the cause of social justice but the same could not be carried forward in view of the tacit opposition of the BJP. Reserved category people, especially SC’/ST/OBC’s, mostly belong to Jammu Province and in spite of dilution of reservation, no official statement from BJP supporting the reservation in recruitment, promotion and education is forthcoming.
Reiterating the demands of the Confederation like restoration of reservation in promotion, share in adhoc/contractual daily wager appointments, scholarship for SC/ST/OBC students, implementation of 27% reservation for OBC’s, providing shelter homes to homeless SC/ST/OBC’s, providing equal opportunities to SC/ST/OBC’s in the matter of posting/transfers, political reservation to STs, etc, Kalsotra strongly demanded that all these issues be sorted out at the earliest failing which the cadre would take to streets and the Government shall have to face an embarrassing position vis-a-vis its credibility.
