BJP pays rich tributes to Sher-e-Duggar on his 134th birth anniversary

JAMMU, Oct 24: Glowing tributes were paid to Sher-e-Duggar and former national president of Bharatiya Jana Sangh (BJS) Pt. Prem Nath Dogra on his 134th birth anniversary across the State today.
BJP organized a function at Srinagar to pay tributes to Pt Prem Nath Doga in which Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh was the chief guest.
While paying homage to late leader the Deputy Chief Minister said Pandit Dogra’s role in the evolution of democratic system in Jammu and Kashmir would always be remembered.

He said the late leader played a crucial role in raising awareness on social and political issues of the State and the country as well.
Dr Singh said the historic role of the late leader would go in the annals of the history as remarkable as by dint of his handwork he was able to create a niche for himself in the political thinkers of the century.
He said that Pandit Dogra played a key role for the upliftment of downtrodden and vulnerable sections of the society right from 1947 to 1960s.
Dr Nirmal Singh said that late leader’s contributions would continue to inspire future generations to follow his footsteps and lead the society and the State towards progress and development.
Vice Chairman SC, ST Development Board, Balbir Ram Rattan, Dr Darakshan Andrabi, senior leader of the party, Altaf Thakur and Arif Raja were among the prominent BJP leaders who paid tributes to late Pt Dogra.
Performing of Hawan as usual, garlanding of statue, besides distribution of Prasad at various places around the region were the highlights of the programme. A grand function was held at Dogra Chowk here which was led by BJP State president & MLA Sat Sharma along with MLC Ashok Khajuria, State general secretary Harinder Gupta, MLA & Chief Whip in State Assembly, Rajesh Gupta and MLC Adv. Ramesh Arora.
It is worthwhile to mention here that Pt. Prem Nath Dogra was the tallest Dogra leader of the recent times and was instrumental in forming the Jammu Praja Parishad (JPP) in 1947 along with other contemporary leaders to counter the divisive policies of Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah. He was later elected the president of Bharatiya Jana Sangh (BJS) in 1955.
Sat Sharma, while remembering the services of Pandit Ji said that he dedicated his whole life for the upliftment of downtrodden and spent every movement for unity of the State with the rest of the country. He was a great soul who was instrumental in leading agitation for the pride of common people, the Praja Parishad agitation, which ultimately proved to be a success with the popular slogan of “Ek Vidhan, Ek Nishan, Ek Pradhan” and the BJP under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is following the same very principle to bridge the gap between the hearts of the people.
Ashok Khajuria, appealed the party workers to work with dedication for ensuring the reach of party principles to every household of the region. As a mature personality, he was equally respected by his opponents as well, he added.
Rajesh Gupta emphasized on the high morality and standards of workmanship while following the great path of sacrifices shown by or predecessors and said that activists must follow his footsteps for a greater cause.
Meanwhile, the birthday of the visionary leader was enthusiastically celebrated at all the districts, wards and the booth levels under the guidance of district presidents, Baldev Singh Billawaria in district Jammu, Ayodhya Gupta in district Jammu West, Omi Khajuria in Jammu Rural. Similar programmes were conducted across the regions under the guidance of senior leaders.
BJP paid rich tributes to Sher e Duggar on his 134th birthday in Radha Krishan Temple Panjtirthi. While paying tributes to this great son of India and fearless leader, Karan Singh, Member State Executive, BJP described him a leader with vision having guts to meet any challenge.
He recalled his services to the people of the State as well as nation as a whole. Others who paid tributes to late leader included Naresh Abrol , Suresh Bharti , Subash Raina J, Pushpinder Malhotra , Bhupeshver Singh , Vikas , Sourav Sharma , Vishal Mangotra ,  Mangal Singh , Kaka Ji , Gourav Agnihotri , Suneel Sharma etc.
Another function was held at Kathua which was presided over by Prem Nath Dogra, district president of the party. He while recalling the services of late leader said that he (Dogra) stood like a rock against the divisive forces in the State in abolishing permit system by working shoulder to shoulder with founder president of Jana Sangh, Dr Shyama Parasad Mookerjee who later laid down his life for abolition of permit system in the State.
Another function was organised at Bhaderwah under the leadership of BJP district president Doda, Mandeep Razdan in which rich tributes were paid to Sher-e-Duggar. Razdhan described him a towering leader of the country.
