Bar to celebrate Accession Day as national festivity

JAMMU, Oct 24: Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association Jammu has resolved to celebrate Accession Day as national festivity.
This was decided in a meeting of the Advisory Council to the Executive Committee of the J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu presided over by its President, B S Slathia.

The members of the Advisory Council opined that the Accession Day is a great patriotic event in the history of Jammu and Kashmir as well as the Indian history and it should be celebrated like other national festivals. It was further resolved that the Accession Day will be celebrated on October 26, the day the then  Maharaja Hari Singh signed the Instrument of Accession in the year 1947 and 2nd half of the day–from 1 PM onward will be observed as holiday.
Meanwhile, addressing press conference, Bar President made an appeal to the public in general and members of legal fraternity in particular (Bar Associations), besides social, political, student, business and trade organizations to celebrate the Accession Day with pomp and show and unfurl the National Flag in their work places, institutions, shops, establishments and homes etc.
