JAMMU, Oct 21: With booth level and Mandal level Committees yet to be constituted, the organizational elections of State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are unlikely be completed by earlier schedule date of November 15.
The election process of State BJP which started during past  three months with the launch of primary membership drive will be delayed by a month or so as Party is yet to constitute both booth level and Mandal Committees in the State, which will be followed by election of district committees and State president.
The Party had appointed Mohan Singh Chauhan as Election Committee membership in charge for the State, while Harinder Gupta was appointed as State election in charge and Radha Mohan Singh was appointed as All India election incharge of the Party.
The Party had earlier given a deadline of November 15 to finish the lection process in the state. But according to Party sources this process got delayed in view of the coming festivals, holidays and ensuing Assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat.
Meanwhile the strong lobbying for election to the post of
State president in the Party has started with various senior functionaries making rounds to Union Capital to plead their case before the Party High Command.
Besides present Party chief, Shamsher Singh Manhas who is trying his luck second time, MLA Nagrota, Jugal Kishore Sharma, senior vice president Chander Parkash Ganga, BJP State chief spokesman and  National Executive Member Dr Jitendra Singh and former Mayor, JMC Kavinder Gupta are strong contenders for the post.
Sources said the BJP High Command has made it clear to the Party leaders that the person who will be inducted as Party chief in the State will not be considered as Party nominee to the Lok Sabha elections in 2014.
This condition put by Party High Command will discourage some aspirants from pursuing their case as they would not like to be deprived of Party mandate in the Lok Sabha elections, sources said.
To sort out the issue and to evolve a consensus besides deliberating over other party matters, the BJP national president Nitin Gadkari has summoned the core group of Party to New Delhi today. Mr Gadkari will hold detailed deliberations with them on the organization elections issue, sources added.
Sources said as the enrolment of members throughout the State was a daunting task for the party which was started over three months back, the process is over now with the completion of verification etc and the Party is all set to hold the booth level and Mandal level elections very soon. This will be followed by election of district presidents and State president. The entire poll process of the party will be completed by December with election of new national president, sources added.
Majority of party activists favoured  that new incumbent to the post of president should be a man with clean image who can refurbish the Party in the State and give a new direction to its cadres as BJP is facing a serious challenge after the cross voting episode of April 13, 2011 resulting in disqualification of seven MLAs from the primary membership of the Party.
