BJP not untouchable for Muslims: Farooq Khan

JAMMU, Apr 9: The two Muslim majority border districts of Rajouri and Poonch, which are an important segment of Jammu-Poonch Parliamentary constituency, are witnessing a different kind of political wave.
This was claimed by Farooq Ahmed Khan (retd) IGP who joined BJP recently and was on hectic campaign of the border districts for the party candidate Jugal Kishore Sharma  up to yesterday.
He said during the last few days, surprising developments  were witnessed when not only large number of members of a particular community so far never seen too enamoured towards BJP, were found to be not only attending the public meetings and rallies organized by the party in different areas like Poonch, Surankot, Shahdara Sharief, Kotranka, Budhal etc. but were also seen listening to the speeches of BJP leaders including him.
Mr Khan said the crowds were noticed cheering lustily and reacting positively to what he had been saying about these neglected areas and different communities living there.
He said that this community has been continuously seen supporting parties other than BJP as they had been presented a totally different image of BJP. With the advancement in means of communication, the people in remote and far flung areas are now having direct access to the outside world and are themselves able to have independent opinions about the political parties and the Modi wave is also having a strong impact in these pockets in twin districts, he added.
He said a large number of influential persons from their respective areas are now openly showing their political inclination towards BJP.
Khan said besides a large number of local Sarpanchs and Panchs, Zulfiqar Choudhary, a prominent social activist from Panjnada, Farooq Shabnam, a prominent Congress activist from Panhad area of Rajouri, Azam Choudhary, a journalist & a senior prominent PDP leader from Panjnada, Hafiz Tanveer Ahmed, Imam Jamia Madjid, Fatehpur, Moulvi  Elias Ahmed from Surankot, Choudhay Shouqat Ahmed and Choudhary Mushtaq Ahmed-two prominent activists of NC from Budhal area, are some of the prominent figures of the community who recently joined BJP and extended their  unconditional support.
