JAMMU, Apr 9: Sainik Colony Football Club got better of NGR via tie-breaker in the quarterfinals to seal berth in the semifinals of the ongoing 1st Vishal Heer Memorial Football Tournament, being organized by Young Heroes Football Club at GGM Science College Football ground, here.
Earlier, in the stipulated time, the match ended in a draw as both the teams scored one goal each.
Both the goals were pelted in the first-half of the match. It was Arshad from NGR, who netted the first goal in 3rd minute of the match and Ankit Mehta of Sainik Colony scored an equalizer in the 7th minute. However, despite brilliant moves, none of the teams could manage to score any goal in the second half of the match and the match was decided via tie-breaker.
Bhanu Kumar, Niteshwar Singh, Vinay and Dharampal succeeded in scoring goals through penalties for Sainik Colony Football Club, while Mohit Verma, Chandu and Nainjot Singh netted goals for NGR in tie-breaker.
Dimple and Gagandeep Singh missed the target for Sainik Colony, while Tanpreet Singh, Aman and Heera failed to score goals for NGR.
For dangerous play, yellow card was shown to Jeewandeep Singh, Sandeep, Nainjot Singh, Raja and Chanu of NGR in 28th, 40th, 43rd, 49th and 63rd minutes respectively, while Vinay Kumar of Sainik Colony was shown yellow card for foul play in 26th minute of the match. Bhanu Kumar, goalkeeper of Sainik Colony Club was adjudged man of the match for his brilliant performance.
The match was officiated by Vikramjeet Singh, Suresh Gupta, Ricky Kumar and Rohit Kumar.
Prominent among others who witnessed the match were Harbans Lal, Charan Dass, Rajesh Sumbria, Ramesh Chander, Rohit Kumar Gupta and Tushar Heer.
