JAMMU, Jan 8: BJP Mahila Morcha J&K UT took out a rally in support of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) from Gole Market near Swarn Theatre to Satwari Chowk to create awareness among the people about the CAA.
Hundreds of Mahila Morcha activists as well general women supporters of CAA from in and around the city joined the rally. The rallyists displayed National Flags and placards with message “We Support CAA”, “CAA is about Human Rights”, “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “India Supports CAA”.
The rally was flagged off by former Dy. CM, Kavinder Gupta along with State general secretary, Yudhvir Sethi, Mahila Morcha State president, Rajni Sethi, State spokesperson and Mahila Morcha, Prabhari, Priya Sethi (former Minister), Dy. Mayor, Purnima Sharma, former MLA, Rajesh Gupta and district president Jammu, Vinay Gupta.
Kavinder Gupta, while flagging off the rally said that the main objective of the rally is to extend support to CAA. He said that the Central Government has brought the legislation in the larger interest of the people and requested everybody to “spread facts and not myth” in support of the Citizenship Act.
Rajni Sethi, said that the BJP led Government at the Centre, under the leadership of PM Modi, had resolved the issues afflicting the nation for the last 70 years in just eight months. Nobody could have thought that issues like Article 370, Triple Talaq, unhindered verdict on Ram Temple construction and Pakistan sponsored terrorism could be solved like this. She added that the main aim of this rally for us is to reach out to the people and explain the positive aspects of CAA and also to dispel misgivings and confusion regarding it among them.
Purnima Sharma said that an attempt was being made by Congress party to disturb communal harmony of the country. She said that there was nothing against any Indian belonging to any religious in the CAA.
Priya Sethi said that some vested interests are spreading mis-information, which has resulted in protests in some places. So, it becomes imperative for everyone to understand that the Act which only extends citizenship, but does not snatch anyone’s citizenship.
State general secretary, Mahila Morcha, Sanjita Dogra thanked all the women activists and the people of the area for their active participation in the rally.
