JAMMU, Oct 5: “Three agricultural laws made by the Parliament have not only liberated farmers but also empowered them to decide about prices and places of selling their produce according to their own choice and prevailing market values anywhere in India. The bills, which got President’s assent lately, were passed amid an uproar by Opposition party leaders and farmer groups alike, who have been misguided by the opposition. In reality, farmers now don’t have to depend upon Agricultural Produce Market Committees (APMC) and will be getting good price for their produce”.
This was stated by BJP J&K Executive Member, Raman Suri, who added that these new laws empower farmers to sell their produce in the State or even outside the State, depending upon prices they get. This has given farmers complete freedom to trade anywhere, especially when no one will tax them or charge anything now.
Raman Suri said,. now farmers can also enter into a contract with buyers even before sowing their crops and get whatever price they fix mutually. This is historic but opposition, which has been red-faced, is trying to mislead farmers by burning their tractors. Since the produce of farmers has also been exempted from any State acts aimed at regulating the sale and purchase of farming produce, there is no room for states to impose MSPs on such produce.
One of the three laws, Raman Suri explained, has also removed cereals, pulses, oilseeds, edible oils, onions, and potatoes from the list of essential commodities. This means farmers can also sell these products as per their own prices and get an even better amount than before. However, the Government can intervene and regulate their prices during war, famine, extraordinary price rise, and natural calamity of grave nature, he added.
