JAMMU, July 24: Senior BJP leader and District Development Council (DDC) member Pandit Suresh Sharma called on Director General of the Floriculture Department, Jitendra Singh today to discuss developmental issues in the Chhamb and Akhnoor Assembly constituencies.
During the meeting, Sharma highlighted the presence of large ancient ponds in these constituencies, noting that the vacant spaces along their banks in the Kandi area offer potential for park development.
He emphasized that Akhnoor and Chhamb are home to numerous historical and ancient temples, which attract thousands of visitors for annual fairs.
Sharma proposed the creation of parks around these temples as well to enhance the appeal of these areas.
Sharma also advocated for the establishment of parks in rural areas, similar to those in urban settings.
He suggested that these parks include walking paths to promote health and provide a clean environment for the residents.
Director General Sardar Jitendra Singh listened attentively and assured Sharma that visits would be made to the identified locations.
He confirmed that parks would be developed wherever suitable land is available, aiming to beautify the areas and increase their attractiveness.
