JAMMU, Sept 26: Alleging that BJP lacks vision to take J&K out of mess, JKPCC vice president and former minister Raman Bhalla today urged LG’s Administration to clear pending payments of contractors worth crores for accomplished works under the head of languishing projects.
He said contractors are in tight spot and no one listens to them forcing them even to resort to agitational path. Mere verbal assurances from senior officers is what they have been subjected to and have left them to lurch as they can obviously do nothing. He said contractors have spent money worth crores from their pockets and have resorted to short term borrowings at phenomenal costs. They have executed works in good faith and their pending liabilities should be cleared, Bhalla said while addressing a meeting in Nanak Nagar area of Jammu.
The Congress leader said all the working contractors of Jammu Province are going on strike till their payments are not cleared. He claimed that the liability worth Rs 400 crores including both old and new under the head of NRDWP, languishing and Jal Jiwan Mission projects is lying pending. He further said that all the Contactors facing burden of Bank loans, labour liability causing great humiliation, mental harassment to them due to wrong policy of Govt ignoring terms of agreement.
Bhalla further said that there is strong resentment among people of Jammu region towards BJP which has miserably failed to address even basic issues of the people of the area. He said that majority of people during interaction maintained that no new developments but only facelifts of previous works were done in the area. “BJP was in power at the Centre and in the erstwhile J&K State too, it was easy for the party to forward issues of common masses through their Government in the State to the Union Ministry concerned, for mitigating the sufferings of people but they took them casually,” Bhalla said .
He pointed out that there was total chaos and confusion among people as BJP leadership has failed to remove peoples’ apprehensions. “On one hand, there is complete uncertainty in J&K, while on the other hand people are confronting with failure of the administration to solve day today problems”, he said.
Administratively also the people in J&K feel suffocated and are waiting eagerly for a democratically elected Government to address their sufferings. But the people at the helm in Delhi seem to be least bothered about these important public issues and are instead adding to their woes by ignoring them under serious crisis. The future of lakhs of unemployed youth is in jeopardized. The BJP lacks vision to take J&K out of mess,” he added.
