JAMMU, Jan 27: Various political parties including BJP and Congress celebrated Republic Day with great enthusiasm and national fervour and unfurled National flag, in various functions organised across the J&K UT.
BJP’s J&K unit president, Ravinder Raina along with former DyCM Kavinder Gupta, BJP general secretary (Org) Ashok Kaul, party general secretaries Sunil Sharma, Vibodh Gupta, Dr Devinder Kumar Manyal and other senior leaders hoisted “Tiranga” at party headquarters, Trikuta Nagar.
Former MP Shamsher Singh Manhas, former Minister Sat Sharma, BJP chief spokesperson Sunil Sethi, District Prabhari Karan Singh, District president Munish Khajuria and others hoisted “Tiranga” at BJP office, Kachi Chawni, Jammu.
MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, party vice-president Yudhvir Sethi, Mayor JMC Chander Mohan Gupta, BJP NEM Priya Sethi, Dy Mayor Purnima Sharma, District president Vinay Gupta and others hoisted National flag at City Chowk, Jammu.
Ravinder Raina, while addressing the gathering congratulated them on the occasion of Republic Day. He said that Bharat is land of brave, which is not just a piece of land but a living emotion. He said that our Constitution was enacted on this day in 1950 after uncounted sacrifices and contributions for Indian Independence. He appealed all the citizens to work for the integrity and progress of the country achieving the aim of “Vishav Guru Bharat”.
Dr Nirmal Singh hoisted “Tiranga” at Ban, Nagrota and other places.
Kavinder Gupta unfurled National flag at Trikuta Nagar, Kunjwani,, Raipur Satwari, Roop Nagar, Digiana, Gandhi Nagar Gole Market, Ward No. 51 Chhani, Gorkha Nagar, Bathindi, Friends Colony and Ward No.52.
Ashok Koul hoisted “Tiranga” at party office, Satwari Chowk and other places.
Sat Sharma hoisted tricolor in Ward Nos. 24, 26, 9, 27, 28, 30, 31, 40, 32 and Bank Colony.
Yudhvir Sethi hoisted “Tiranga” at City Chowk, Bowri Mohalla, Dogra Chowk, Bikram Chowk, Gumat, Bus Stand, Residency Road, Christian Mohalla, Peer Mitha, Purani Mandi, Kali Janni, Pacca Danga and Rani Park.
Pawan Khajuria hoisted “Tiranga” at Saila Talab, Udhampur and other places.
Sunil Sharma hoisted “Tiranga” at BJP office and other places.
Dr Devinder Kumar Manyal hoisted “Tiranga” at Party Office Supwal Samba and village Diani, Samba.
Mayor Chander Mohan Gupta hoisted “Tiranga” at Shiv Nagar, Vishavkarma Sabha, Rajpura Park, Town Hall, City Chowk, Residency Road, Raghunath Market, Pir Mitha and Rehri Zone Railway Station.
Priya Sethi hoisted “Tiranga” at City Chowk, Peer Mitha, Wards 2, 3, 4, 10 and 11 of Jammu City.
Senior BJP leader and party spokesperson, Dr Darakhshan Andrabi hoisted National flag at Sidhra in presence of party activists and locals of the area. She also briefly addressed the occasion.
Arun Khanna, BJP Corporator, hoisted National Flag at Rehari Colony, Jammu West in presence of party workers and locals of the area.
Congress Party celebrated Republic Day in all its District and Block headquarters. The main function was held at PCC office Jammu where president Ghulam Ahmed Mir hoisted national flag in presence of functionaries of PCC, DCC, Sedva Dal and the people from all sections of society.
PCC working president Raman Bhalla, vice president Kanta Bhan, PCC general secretaries Yogesh Sawhney, Manmohan Singh, Treasurer Rajnish Sharma, Seva Dal Chief Vijay Sharma, Gurdarshan Singh, Sanjeev Panda, Rajvir Singh, Gajan Singh, Ritu Choudhary (Corporater) DCC office bearers Dr. Rama Kant Khajuria, Pawan Dev Singh, Gurmit Singh and others also attended the function.
Speaking on the occasion Mir recalled the sacrifices of its great leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Pt Jawahar lal Nehru. Neta Ji Subash Chander Bose, Shaheed Azam Bhagat Singh, Sardar Patel, Mulana Abul Kalam Azad, Lal Bahadur Shastri and many other freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives to liberate India from foreign rulers and guide modern India towards its substantive progress.
Raman Bhalla also hoisted tricolour at Kunjwani Chowk in presence of Corporator Pritam Singh and other leaders besides general public.
Meanwhile, Sawhney along with other Congress leaders unfurled the tricolor at Ward No. 19 to commemorate the day, in a ceremony organised by Raj Kumar Kashayp and Vijay Singh. He also unfurled the Indian flag at Ward no. 16, New Plot at Govt Girls’ Middle School in a ceremony organised by Ranjeet Kumar. This was followed by Republic Day Celebrations at Ward No. 30, Talab Tillo and Ward No. 7, Vivekananda Chowk. He extended his best wishes to all the people on the occasion.
DCC Jammu (Rural), president Thakur Hari Singh along with Corporator Rajni Balla hoisted National Flag at Ploura and several other places in Raipur-Domana area of Jammu.
In PCC office Srinagar, the tricolor was unfurled by District president Abdul Gani Khan in presence of other office bearers. They sung National Anthem and Khan also addressed the gathering, recalling sacrifices of National leaders.
At Udhampur, DCC leaders in a function held at Bhagat Singh Park under the leadership of Krishan Chander Bhagat, DCC president, hoisted National flag. DCC chief also addressed the gathering and paid floral tributes to national heroes.
District Congress general secretary, Jammu Gurmeet Singh along with Hardavinder Singh, ward president, unfurled national flag at Wartd No. 3 Jammu East; Jai Singh, senior Congress leader at hoisted tricolor at Babar Chowk, Sainik Colony while Sat Pal Sapolia. Vice president DCC (U) Jammu at Gandhinagar, Jammu in presence of S K Bali, L N Mishra, Vinay Dutta and others.
Congress leader Bharat Priye hoisted National flag at Pargwal in Chhamb constituency in presence of several party leaders and activists.
National Conference, Provincial president Rattan Lal Gupta today stressed the need for preserving and promoting the secular ethos, saying unity in diversity is the biggest strength of the nation.
Unfurling tricolour on 73rd Republic Day at party office here, Gupta exhorted the people to maintain harmony and strive for peace and unity. He greeted the people on this occasion and hoped that they will work for strengthenipng the bonds of amity.

Former minister and senior NC leader, Ajay Sadhotra unfurled National flag at Marh in presence of large number of party workers and block leaders. Senior NC leader Sunil Verma along with other activists hoisted national flag at Udhampur town and also distributed sweets on the occasion.
PDP leaders led by vice president Abdul Hamid Choudhary unfurled national flag at Party office Gandhinagar in presence of senior leaders Amrik Singh Reen, Abdul Rashid Malik and Rajinder Manhas.
Apni Party president Altaf Bukhari hoisted the National Flag at Gandhi Nagar office here to mark 73rd Republic Day celebrations.
The Party senior leaders, Frontal heads, Trade Union, Women wing, Youth wing, Student wing, SC/ST/OBC wing and other leaders had assembled in the premises of the Party office under the leadership of Bukhari.
The party president hoisted the flag amid the singing of the National Anthem with enthusiasm by the Party leaders and workers.
Bukhari congratulated the fellow countrymen and people of Jammu and Kashmir on the eve of 73rd Republic Day.
“India is a democratic country and the constitution grants us the right of freedom and equality. That is the only reason India is known across the world due to its democratic values,” he said.
He said the assembly elections need to be held in J&K at the earliest so that people get their own elected representatives. He emphasized on the need to restore democracy systems in J&K.

The Republic Day was also celebrated at IDPS Jammu where Altaf Bukhari, hoisted tricolor in presence of Namrata Sharma, Asgar Ali, Rohit Gupta, Swarn Choudhary and Yashpal Choudhary along with the Principal- Ms Randeep Wazir of IDPS Jammu.
AAP-J&K, Jammu celebrated 73nd Republic day with great zeal and fervor, in its Provincial office Green Belt Park Road Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. Dr Deep Singh, Founder & National Council Member AAP- J&K, unfurled the National flag in presence of, Convener, Jammu Province, Om Parkash Khajuria and senior AAP leaders of Jammu Province.
NPP leader Neeraj Dewan (Trade Union wing) unfurled National flag at Roop Nagar, along with members of joint Action Committee of the locality, besides in ward No. 37 Janipur, Jammu.
NCP leader, Rish Kaul Kilam along with other party activists and locals of the area hoisted tricolor at R S Pura to mark the republic Day celebrations.
Shiv Sena leader Manish Sawhney along with party leaders and activists unfurled national flag at party office Jammu to mark the celebrations. The activists sung National Anthem and distributed sweets among the locals present on the occasion.
IkkJutt Jammu, party president Ankur Sharma hoisted tricolor at JDA Park, Roop Nagar, Jammu to mark the Republic Day celebrations the other day. A large number of party activists and locals of the area witnessed the occasion.
