BJP condemns attack on minority girl in South Kashmir

JAMMU, July 3: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has taken a  serious note of attack on a young girl belonging to Sikh community at Tral in South Kashmir.
In a press statement issued at the party Headquarters, Brig Anil Gupta, State spokesperson of the party has condemned the incident unequivocally and termed it as an attempt to create a fear-psychosis among the minorities through acts of terror.
Giving details of the incident Brig Gupta said that the girl is a student of Islamic University of Science and Technology, Anantnag and is a resident of Gandhpora Tral. On Monday morning when she was waiting at Tral Bus Stand to board a bus for the University, she was attacked by two masked men riding on a motor cycle. An attempt was made to stab her also. The girl was immediately rushed to the nearby hospital where from she was discharged later and returned home.
The girl has a brother who is already handicapped. The girl is so scared and terrified that she is not even willing to give any statement to the police. The attack is another attempt by the radicalised segment to scare away the brave members of the minority Sikh community in Kashmir which so far has with stood valiantly such attempts to force their migration, said Brig Gupta.
He appealed the Governor to ensure that the miscreants are apprehended immediately and punished. The administration should ensure the safety of the minorities and take stern measures to prevent any form of harassment to them Brig Gupta added.
