JAMMU, Feb 7: While criticizing the ruling BJP with pursuing anti-poor agenda to protect the interests of big corporate houses, Mahila Congress today said that saffron brigade has been exposed before the countrymen.
Addressing the state executive committee meeting of the Jammu and Kashmir Mahila Congress, the party leaders said that Congress Party’s pro-poor ideology of secularism and unity in diversity was the only way to keep the country as a strong and united.
Senior Congress leader and incharge of Mahila Congress, Nagma especially came to Jammu to attend state executive committee meeting. She reviewed the functioning of the party in Jammu and Kashmir.
Raman Bhalla, working president of JKPCC and Yogesh Sawhney, district president Jammu Urban also graced the occasion. Both the leaders appreciated working of Mahila Congress and said we have to fight the divisive forces who are ruling the country on the basis of caste/religion and need to be opposed at every stage.
J&K Mahila Congress president and ex-MLA Indu Pawar lashed out at BJP for pursuing oppressive policies to suppress the voice of the youth, women, farmers, and other weaker sections of the society.
Pawar expressed her anguish that the BJP is adopting oppressive means to snub those who are agitating for just and genuine demands. She said that the ways being adopted by the government, would prove disastrous for democracy in the country. She said that to save the interests of big business lobbies, BJP Government is all out to suppress poor people and farmers who are demanding reasonable prices for their produce.
“The BJP came to power with the promise of the welfare of farmers, poor, youth etc. All that the farmers were demanding was help from the government and in return they received bullets,” she said and regretted that instead of solving problems of the people BJP governments were indulged in using oppressive means.
In the state executive committee meeting, letters of appreciation were given to female members of Panchayats and Urban Local Bodies. Female Panches, Sarpanches, Block Development Councils (BDCs) members, District Development Councils (DDCs) members were given appreciation letters. Similarly, councilors and corporators of Urban Local Bodies were also felicitated with such letters of appreciation.
Earlier Pawar along with Nagma visited the border village Suchetgarh where a meeting was organised by the local unit of Mahila Congress.
Speaking in the meeting, Nagma exhorted party workers to spread the message of Congress in every nook and corner of Jammu and Kashmir. She said that policies and programmes of the Congress party are formulated by incorporating the wishes and aspirations of every section of the society.
