Binatone aims Rs 500 cr business by 2015-16

NEW DELHI, Feb 23: Technology company Binatone India expects its business to grow three times to Rs 500 crore by 2015-16 with new opportunities coming up in the broadband sector.
“Winners in recent spectrum auction are looking at creating Wi-fi spots. Besides, this government is considering Wi-fi spots around NOFN project. We expect our business over three times by 2015-16 fiscal to Rs 500 crore on these opportunities,” Binatone India Country head SP Singh told reporters.
He said Binatone has been working with almost all telecom operators, including Vodafone, Airtel, Aircel, MTS and Tikona which are looking at developing Wi-fi hotspots to efficiently use spectrum.
“The price of spectrum in recent auction has gone very high. Companies are working on creating Wi-fi spots so that they can lower load on their network. We expect about 50 thousand Wi-fi hotspots to come up where we are looking at 30 per cent market share,” Singh said.
The company makes high speed Wi-fi routers among other things.
The company expects to close current fiscal year with a revenue of about Rs 150 crore.
“Big growth in business will come once Government starts rolling out national optical fibre network project. It will be highway of broadband and we will provide equipment for streets around it,” he said.
Government expects to complete rollout of non-optical fibre network (NOFN) project by September, 2015.
“We are working on new broadband radio equipment that will provide network coverage of up to 20 kilometers. We are looking at business for this in rural area and small towns,” Singh said.
The company at present sells mainly broadband customer products, wireless broadband based video monitoring solutions, tablets, etc.
Singh said of the Rs 500-crore business, about 65 per cent will come from broadband customer equipment like modem, routers and broadband network equipment, 10 per cent from sales of tablet PC and about 25 from its Internet-enabled wireless monitoring products. (AGENCIES)
