SRINAGAR, Dec 2: Residents of Bijbehera Town in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district today protested against the lack of facilities in local Sub District Hospital (SDH) and demanded its upgradation.
Dozens of residents assembled outside the SDH Bijbehare today and raised slogans against the Government for its alleged failure to maintain the standard of the hospital.
“Today we are protesting here against the lack of facilities in the Bijbehera hospital. Though it is Sub District hospital, the facilities here are that of a Community Health Centre. The X-Ray and USG machines are lying defunct. From last 10 years, the doctors have not been transferred while there is no sanitation,” said the protesters.
To attract the attention of Government, the locals have decided to keep all the shops, schools and other commercial establishments open on Sunday as a novel way of protest. “We will not be doing any shutdown but thus way we will register our protest,” they added.
