RAJOURI, Oct 22: To commemorate the bicentenary of Sir Sayeed Ahmed Khan’s birth, the founder of Aligarh Muslim University, J&K Alig Society in collaboration with Himalyan Education Mission Society Rajouri, today organised a function at Himalayan Education Mission Degree College.
Members of Alig from various walks of life besides towering socio -educational activists of twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch were present on the occasion.
Prof. Javed Masarat, Vice Chancellor B.G.S.B.U was the chief guest while SSP Yougal Manhas and Farooq Muztar, founder patron of Himalyan Education Mission Society were guests of honour at the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Javed Masarat said that Sir Syeed was a great visionary, statesman, social reformer, jurist, educator, author and a politician and we must follow their teachings for good of the society.
Farooq Muztar lauded the role of Sir Syeed in ameliorating the lot of Muslims in India. He called upon the young to carry forward the mission and teachings of Sir Syeed.
Additional Session Judge Tahir Raina also spoke about the contribution of Sir Syeed towards welfare of the community.
On the occasion, Dr. Ashfaq Zari, Director South campus was conferred with pride of Pir Panjal award for his exemplary contribution in the field of academics whereas Nisar Hussain Rahi and Nazir Qureshi were conferred with Life Time Achievement award for their exemplary contribution towards the society.
Among others Prof. M.H. Shah, president of Alig society, Prof. Bashir Ahmad Magray, Prof. Shamim Banday, Muslim Wani and Manzar Khanyam spoke on the occasion.
