SRINAGAR, Mar 15: National Panthers Party supremo Prof Bhim Singh has called upon the Hurriyat Conference leaders to join poll battle so that the most neglected, suppressed and oppressed people of J&K could be represented genuinely in the Parliament.
Addressing press conference here today, Prof Singh issued appeal to the Hurriyat leadership of Kashmir to join the poll battle in the general interest of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and meet their aspirations. He also appealed the angry youth of Kashmir to support the Panthers Party candidates in Lok Sabha elections because it is only NPP which represents the aspirations of the youth in particular which is evident from the fact that Panthers Party alone has been fighting from the streets to the legislature and up to Supreme Court for the justice and equity to the suffering people of J&K. He claimed that only NPP can provide better alternative to the people.
Prof Singh claimed that NPP has been fighting for the youth detained illegally in jails and the new recruits who are being paid only half of the salary by Government. He said the NPP has been moved to the Supreme Court against the half salary ordinance. The case shall be heard in the apex court on March 31. Prof Singh reminded that NPP is also fighting for the regularization of all SPOs, contractual employees and casual labourers who have completed one year as casual wager. He declared that NPP would contest five Lok Sabha seats out of six. The names of two candidates have already been announced for Udhampur- Doda (Himself) and Baramulla- Sayed Rafiq Shah (MLC). No candidate will be fielded on Leh seat, he added.
The NPP leader demanded release of all the juveniles (minors) from the judicial custody as the Government has to constitute Juvenile boards, homes as directed in Faizan’s case, a 12-year-old student of Srinagar. Prof Singh also wished good health for Jamat leader Ali Shah Geelani and said Mr Geelani and Abdul Gani Lone have shared the same bench in the Legislative Assembly in 1977.
