Bhatidhar village without water supply for 3 months

POONCH, Aug 2: The people from Bhatidhar village of Mendhar Sub division in Poonch district are forced to fetch water from a local stream for the past over three months as the supply lines have turned dry.
Residents of Bhatidhar area said their repeated pleas to the PHE authorities to restore water supply to the area have not yielded any result.
“When the Government is asking people to stay indoors and ensure social distance to prevent spread of Covid-19, our women folk are forced to walk long distance and queue on banks of a stream to fetch water,” said a resident.
He blamed the PHE authorities for their lackadaisical approach to resolve the water shortage in the village.
Bhatidhar is a village located on a hillock adjacent to the main town of Mendhar. A local social activist Gulam Mustafa Naqashbandi said whenever they approach the authorities concerned with their grievance, they are ill-treated.
When Connected AEE, PHE Sub Division Mendhar said the PHE Pumping Station is out of order and the Motor is lying at work shop Jammu. He assured to take up the issue with the concerned officials at Jammu.
