JAMMU, Apr 10: With the aim to further promote Dogra Culture in the rural areas and in collaboration with Union Ministry of Culture, Bhartiya Kala Sangam (Regd.) today held well prepared programme based on folk song and folk dances in Government High School, Raipur Satwari Jammu Cantt which was witnessed and applauded by a mammoth gathering.
Kavinder Gupta Speaker, Legislative Assembly was the chief guest and Gulshan Mahajan Councellor (BJP), presided over.
Besides T R Sharma, Romesh Singh Chib, Chairman and Director respectively of Bhartiya Kala Sangam were also present on the occasion. Director Bhartiya Kala Sangam expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Culture Govrnment of India for support to organize the programme without which it may not have been possible.
While addressing the public gathering, Kavinder Gupta lauded the efforts of Bhartiya Kala Sangam to promote and develop Dogri Folk Songs and Dances besides making the younger generation to understand and to come closure to our heritage values. He said that values of culture cannot be glossed over as it is very necessary to keep people of different faiths, religion and communities in one bond of togetherness.
Earlier, while welcoming the audience, T R Sharma, Chairman, gave a brief account of various activities carried out by Bhartiya Kala Sangam which started its journey in the year 1980. He said that Bhartiya Kala Sangam (Regd.) has been providing its platform to new budding artists, especially belonging to far flung areas and many more artists have been groomed to independently perform at various functions and entertain public.
Besides Charanjeet Singh Khalsa (MLC), Sohail Kazmi, Patron in Chief BKS, Leela Jamwal Advisor BKS, Manjeet Singh (SHO, Satwari), Jatinder Singh (Lucky) (Vice Chairman Contonment Board Jammu), Baldev Singh Balouria (District President Bhartiya Janta Party {BJP}), Shashi Thakur (DSP), Neelam Saini (IC SHO Canal Road), Randhir Kumar, Rajeev Luthra (Director, Luthra Academy Kachi Chawni Jammu) were guests of honour.
The artists who performed were, Surinder Manhas, Mareena Jamwal, Anjna Paudwal, Saras Bharti, Romalo Ram and party Ramnagar. The event was ably conducted by Rajni Anubhav, renowned anchor of Radio and TV and vote of thanks presented by Romesh Singh Chib, Director Bhartiya Kala Sangam.
