JAMMU, Jan 28: Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture, Raman Bhalla today asserted that equitable development of state was top priority of Government.
The Minister stated this during his visit to Narwal, Qasim Nagar, Rajiv Nagar, Raika Bala and adjoining areas to assess the pace of development works being executed under various schemes.
Bhalla while addressing a gathering at Rajiv Nagar said that Rajiv Nagar, Narwal and its adjoining areas have witnessed massive development, adding that balanced development of all areas is top priority of Government. He said that Government has taken serious steps to ensure substantial development in peripheries and catering needs of people living in slum areas in urban areas at their doorsteps.
The Minister informed that to improve commercial activities, road network under State and Centrally sponsored schemes in Rajiv Nagar, Rahim Nagar, Kariani Talab, Dungian,Vidhata Nagar, Raieka and Bhatindi have been expanded to a larger extent besides separate water supply scheme for Rajiv Nagar, Raieka, Rahim Nagar and its adjoining areas have been launched to provide drinking water upto tail end.
Bhalla said that to improve the living standard of people living under BPL and those living in slum areas under Rajiv Awas Yojna and BSUP the facility like Pacca flats and improved basic amenities would be provided to people at their doorsteps besides mega projects taken in hand under MGNREGA and other welfare schemes have been completed for betterment of people of the State.
He said that to improve the education which is one of the priority sector, number of schools have been opened and upgraded in the State, adding that schemes like RAMSA, Mid- Day Meal have been introduced to facilitate the students of weaker sections of society.
