JAMMU, July 17: Minister for Housing, Horticulture, Culture, Youth Services and Sports, Raman Bhalla, today asked the district administration to ensure proper rehabilitation of those residing near the Indo-Pak International Border (IB) in Arnia at safer places till the unprovoked firing by Pak rangers is not stopped.
The Minister, who was on a visit to the village, enquired about the well being of the IB firing affected families and asked the revenue and police officers to take immediate steps for their relief and rehabilitation.
Member Legislative Assembly, Ashwani Sharma, also accompanied the Minister.
Mr. Bhalla interacted with affected villagers and directed the officers to construct temporary sheds at safer places besides asking Health Department to extend free medical treatment to the injured.
Regarding financial assistance to the injured and compensation to one Border Security Force (BSF) trooper who was killed in yesterday’s firing, he asked the revenue officers to prepare the list of the injured and submit the same so that the compensation under norms could be paid to them.
The Minister on-the-spot issued directions to the Chief Engineer Irrigation and Flood Control to provide irrigation facilities to the farmers at the tail end of the populated area of Arnia village so that they do not face any inconvenience due scarcity of irrigation during sowing of paddy.
The MLA informed the Minister about the grievances of these border people and sought early redressal of the same.
