Bhalla launches work on WSS

JAMMU, Dec 21 : Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla today launched the work on Rs. 2.29 crore Water Supply Scheme (WSS) at Rohi Village in Babliana Panchayat.
The WSS project includes 30,000 gallaon capacity deep drill tubewell,   laying of water supply pipes in the uncovered areas of the targeted localities, one lakh gallon Over Head Tank, compound wall, besides installation of pumping machinery including stand by machinery and erection of electric sub-station/HT/LT lines and voltage stabilizer.
On its completion, the drinking water supply scheme would benefit   Rohi village, Shergarh, Dharap, Kashipuram Ashram, Babliana, Ajeet Nagar, Sant Rocha Singh Nagar, Karan Bagh, Azad Nagar, Lower and Upper Gaddigarh areas.
Addressing a large gathering of villagers after launching the work, Bhalla said that after commissioning of the deep drill tubewell no household in these areas would  remain without adequate drinking water facility.
The Minister said provision for safe drinking water for all has been prioritized by the State Government with many projects being executed by the  PHE Department  and ERA  to meet the vital service  in every area of the State.
For increasing agriculture production in the State,  Mr. Bhalla said  the Government has prepared a comprehensive plan for digging of new irrigation tubewells, irrigation pumps besides irrigation channels as per requirement in the rural pockets, adding that there was no constraint of funds under I&FC sector. He said for renovation of Rohi canal, the Government has released Rs 16 lakh. He asked the  I&FC to start the work so that the farmers do not face any inconvenience during sowing of Kharief.
Responding to the locals demands, the Minister announced Rs. 4 lakh for construction of lanes and drains. He asked the Rural Development Department to prepare estimates for left out lanes and drains and submit the same for funding so that the works could be started for the benefit of general masses.
He also said that the Government has prepared a Detailed Project Report (DPR) involving Rs. 1 crore for construction of bridge over Balol Nallah in Rohi village. He said after construction of the bridge, the villagers would provide road connectivity to village Shergarh and Maralia.
Mr. Bhalla said focus of the Government was to develop all the rural areas at par with urban pockets by providing all basic amenities like better roads, safe drinking water, electricity, medical services, education,   besides better lanes and drains.
Earlier, the Minister also visited Sanjay Nagar Sector-3 and Bahu Fort Pacca Talab and kick started upgradation work of lanes and drains, for which Government has earmarked Rs. 7 lakh.
