Jammu, Jan 22: Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture, Raman Bhalla, today said that the Government is on a comprehensive plan to develop all the poor lot basties with all improved basic amenities like safe drinking water, electricity, road connectivity, healthcare, education besides better lanes and drains.
This was stated by the Minister while interacting with the residents of Sheikh Nagar of Bahu Fort after launching upgradation of lanes and drains including local nallah, here today.
Mr. Bhalla asked the officers to complete all the launched works within stipulated time frame for the convenience of general masses. He said Government is making all out efforts to extend every help to the people, adding that there is no constraint of funds in meeting the aspirations of the masses.
The Minister said Central Government headed by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has provided liberal funding under development sectors. He said aim of the Central Government is to develop Jammu and Kashmir State is one of the model one of the country.
Responding to the locals demand, Mr. Bhalla announced Rs. 11 lakh for upgradation of lanes and drains of Sheikh Nagar in Bahu Fort including modernisation of deep drain with grating facilities near Railway track.
For facilitating the people of Bahu Fort, the Minister informed that Government has earmarked Rs. 1.14 crore for construction of Shri Rabi Dass Biradari Community hall near Kalika Colony, adding that the project is under progress on war-footing and would be completed within stipulated time frame.
Mr. Bhalla said Government has earmarked Rs. 49.90 lakh for construction of additional accommodation at Government High School, Qasmi Nagar under RAMSA.
The Minister said Bahu Fort area is being developed in all respects to showcase it as a major attraction for the tourists and pilgrims visiting the state.
During his visit to the locality, Mr. Bhalla asked the accompanied JMC officers to depute regular teams of Safaikaramcharies in the locality for ensuring clean and healthy environment. He called upon the people to avoid littering inside the lanes and help in maintaining the place clean.
Later, the Minister also inspected the ongoing construction work of Mahasha Mohalla, Shri Rabi Dass Briadari Sabha, Bazigar Basti and Gorkha Nagar multipurpose community halls, for which Government has earmarked Rs. 1.50 crore. He asked the executing agencies to complete all the allied works of the halls within 15 days so that the places could be handed over to the people for arranging their social as well as religious functions there on minimum charges.
