SRINAGAR, Oct 4: Describing artists’ architects of societies, Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture, Raman Bhalla said that J&K is fertile in talent and State artists have proven their capability and ability across the globe. He said artists can play pivotal role for reformation of society besides highlighting public issues and providing entertainment to the people.
The Minister was addressing luminaries and dignitaries related to art, film and literature after inaugurating “2nd Best Film Competition and 2-Day Film Festival” organised by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, at auditorium of Institute of Hotel Management, Rajbagh here on Friday.
The Minister said that Government has taken various initiatives for the promotion of culture, languages, art and theatre activities besides boosting socio-economic conditions of the concerned people. He said through visual documentary films, artists project and highlight issues related to society besides suggesting reformative measures. He said that visual media stresses on providing diverse forms of education to sensitise society, adding that such activities are need of hour for eradication of social evils and social customs.
Mr. Bhalla said State is rich in art and culture and our youth has a great potential of hidden talent which needs to be channelized and explored by opening up of windows of avenues and extending adequate facilities for art lovers.
Minister distributed trophies and Shawls besides gave away cash prizes to the participants as a token of encouragement.
In the competition, from fiction category, Ist best film award was awarded to Krishna Communications film “Auqat”, 2nd best film award was awarded to Mushtaq Ahmad Bala,s film “Purana Ghar”, 3rd best film award was awarded to Nanak Video Communications film, ” Hatchu Ichdar who were given Rs 25000, Rs 20000 and Rs 15000 respectively.
From Non-fiction category Ist best film award was awarded to Big Fan Productions film, “Quality of Life”, 2nd best film award was awarded to Mohi-din Mirza’s film “Five Chirus Flat”, 3rd best film award was awarded to Tricom Odeon,s film, “Calimondy Revisited”, who were given Rs 25000, Rs 20000 and Rs 15000 respectively.
The best Director, Best Actor(male) and Best Actor(Female) awards were given to Rahula Sharma for “Auquat”, Pankaj Khajuria for “Auqat” and Neelam for Hatchu Ichdar respectively including cash prize of Rs 20,000 each.
Earlier, Secretary Cultural Academy, Khalid Bashir highlighted the role of artists and said that Academy has always provided platform to the artists of the State to showcase their talent and said that Best film Competition can be seen as part of this endeavour. He said it is an effort to groom artists and also to contribute towards documenting the rich cultural heritage of the State by using modern technology, he added.
