JAMMU, Oct 30: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla has said that Government is committed to develop clean and healthy environment in urban parts of the State, adding that a comprehensive plan has been prepared to develop all the parks with facilities like seating, drinking water, sprinkle irrigation, illuminated walkway, landscaping and fencing.
This was stated by the Minister after inspecting the renovation work of B/B Block Recreational Park, here today.
During the inspection, Mr. Bhalla called upon the people to avoid littering inside the park and help in maintaining the place with personal monitoring. He asked the Floriculture Department to gear up its men and machinery to maintain and renovate all the recreational parks situated in Gandhi Nagar and Shastri Nagar localities.
The Minister said that Government was making all out efforts for beautification of all open spaces by developing walkways or recreational parks to make the city more attractive.
Responding to the local demands, Mr. Bhalla asked the JMC and Floriculture Department to work in coordination to remove bushes and take up renovation of damaged walkways. He called upon the people of the Gandhi Nagar and Shastri Nagar areas to desist from dumping of building and other waste material in parks, adding that such practices are not only creating hindrances for executing agencies but also dampens the beauty of park.
The Minister said instructions have been issued to JMC, R&B, Floriculture, PDD and PHE Departments to take up sanitation, repair of faulty street lights, renovation of public places, besides ensuring regular drinking water and improved power supply in view of the upcoming Diwali festival.
