JAMMU, Dec 16: Former Minister and vice president of Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), Raman Bhalla has been appointed as working president of JKPCC.
A party spokesman said that All India Congress Committee president, Sonia Gandhi approved the appointment of Bhalla as working president of the party in J&K and AICC general secretary, K C Vinugopal (MP), today issued the order in this regard.
This is for the first time that any Congress leader in J&K has been appointed as working president on the pattern of Punjab. After Pt Tarlochan Dutt and Bhagat Chhajju Ram, an Hindu face from Jammu region has been appointed as working president by the Congress party, after several decades, the party sources said.
